Most of the fuss about the new Pope and the old one may now be fading-out, but surely the hundreds of tourists constantly queuing to get in Saint Peter’s basilica are still there, even under the rain of this never-coming spring. Counting how many visitors get in during a day could probably give a good approximation of how many tourists arrive every day in this city…
However, the loosening of security is allowing more “unconventional” tourists to get in the square too, so if you were planning to visit the place on your bike, skateboard, rollerblades, or whatever else, this may be a good time to try it out.
But if you are waiting for the day in which you’ll find no queue to get in the basilica or an empty square, well, then maybe you should reconsider your priorities, because that day will most probably never arrive.
