Camera: NEX-7, ISO1600, f2.5, 1/20, raw

Noordvijk, Van Oranje Hotel, Holland’s finest destination and home to greatest events, according to the website. One of the weirdest places I’ve ever seen, if you ask me. But weird in a good way, photographically at least. Don’t get me wrong, room is clean, bed comfy, breakfast abundant and delicious. It’s just plain weird.
Day was long, a flight in the early morning, a meeting rolling non stop till 5PM, and then a couple of km of walk under the shittiest weather you can imagine to move from the weird hotel to the restaurant. Noordvijk itself is kind of a weird place, strange and huge hotels rising all along the coastline. But under strong wind and rain, it gets almost hellish, with waves rumbling on the shore, salty water raining furiously, and sand-wind scrubbing everyone so stupid to stand on its way.
Dinner was nice and I had the right amount of wine to actually enjoy the horrible walk back to the hotel. Five ports with my Northern European colleagues and now I’m finally resting in my room, ready for a deep drunk sleep with no Agata to wake me up before time 🙂

  1. Cracking shot. Perfect in B&W.

My NEX-7 arrived today. After using a manual lens on my C3 for a year, 5 minutes with my Voigtländer on this baby and I am blown away – mostly with EVF and all the extra controls. I imagine it’s a similar feeling a pokémon experiences when “levelling up” 😀

The Voigtländer build suits the camera so well. It’s almost like they were made with each other in mind. As I have the 35mm F1.4, the 35mm F2.5 doesn’t seem like any benefit at this stage. In low light, fast lenses are king… and I really enjoy shooting low-light since having it.

Having said that, in the bright sun or any daylight, my 18-200mm LE will get a lot of work as a premium walk about lens – huge range and reasonably fast in a lovely body, with stabilisation.

Not sure why I cluttered your blog-space up with this rambling, so I’m sorry for that! 🙂

    1. cheers Martin, you didn’t cluttered, you just needed to share your happiness for finally having the tool you wished so much 🙂
I agree that the skopar isn’t of any use since you already own the nokton. I don’t own a 18-200 but had the chance to use it while in Alaska and it performed really well.
      enjoy your new toy!!!
