Eleventh day of the “I’m Batman” theme, the Bat-Goldsmith is here. Sitting in his Bat-Lab, mastering the art of welding, fusing and moulding to create all but Bat-Weapons… more like Bat-Jewelry. The art may look the same, but the results are way different!

  1. How do you get the ambiance light so nice? I mean there seems to be just one light (+ some additional light). Is there an additional flash here or nice postprocessing or just careful exposure?

    1. Hi John, no flashes in these shots, only ambient light. I would say that my approach is a lot of careful exposure (and composition to get the best out of the natural lights) and a nice bit of fine post-processing 🙂

      1. Thank you for your reply Luca!

Could I ask for you to open up a little what means ‘careful exposure and composition to get the best put of natural lights’ in this particular picture? To me, it looks like a shot that would have ended up too dark or too focused on a table-lamp, if I had shot it. You have managed to get very even and balanced ambient light here. Did it take multiple shots to find out best angle and light?

        Keep on bringing great pictures!

        1. Hey John, no problem. If you look carefully you’ll see that there’s a second light source in the frame, up over the lamp. It comes from one of the shelves. The goldsmith had some kind of led lights on there. I don’t remember what they were, but they lit part of the mask and part of the wall behind the goldsmith. Also, I switched on the lights from the ceiling. They were way lower than the lamp or the led, but enough to reduce the shadows of the goldsmith’s back and the back of the mask. This is way everything is balanced 🙂
Single shot with careful exposure and composition 😉
