We spent the day on the mountains around Pescocostanzo. First a sunny lunch with ham and hot cheese panini (ham being “crudo di montagna” and cheese being “scamorza”) drinking a lot of belgian white beer. Oh Yeah!
Than we drove around, visiting towns and woods, till we reached this iced lake close to the town Alfedena. It is an artificial lake, kept by a dike for electricity production. It is called Lago della Montagna Spaccata, literally “lake of the broken mountain”. It was a long walk down the hill, not easy to avoid stepping into the snow.
