So, eventually, here we are. It’s my birthday again, I’m not 33 anymore, which means that a whole year has passed through this project, 365 plus the one day kindly offered by the leap year. It has been a fantastic journey, and I have been so lucky to be able to share it with all of you, so many people, from so many countries, all sharing the same enthusiasm for photography and life. Thank you all, sincerely, for walking by me this whole time, you have been amazig.

Agata was a baby when I started, now she’s a little kid. We were living in a small apartment in the periphery when I started, now we enjoy our new home, so close to the city center. I was an engineer with a part-time job as a photographer when I started, now I am a photographer with a little part time job as an engineer.

This project gave me many things:

1) it gave me the opportunity to be noticed by a large and innovative corporation such as Sony, which together with HMX had me taking part to the incredible adventure in Alaska, and which is now going to be the perfect partner for the next blog project (later on this);

2) it definitely demonstrated me how mirrorless cameras (and in particular the NEX-7) can substitute my dslr for most applications, I mean, I shot so many different subjects in the last year and I never felt crippled, if anything the exact opposite;

3) obviously, it gave me 365(+1) images for my portfolio, which turned out to be good enough to have me working for one of our major national magazines, L’Espresso, for one of the major European institutions for the promotion and diffusion of art, Fondazione Romaeuropa, and now with the three curators of 7.30, which will produce what will be my first full personal exhibition;

4) but it mostly gave me the confidence on my numbers, most of the “technicalities” are now as natural as breathing air, and I’m more and more free to focus on the ideas instead of struggling with the implementation.

So, at the end of such a project, what does last at least? To me, the answer would be: the daily activity of looking for inspiration, and the daily moment of sharing, something that has become a natural habit/addiction as it is to have a coffee first thing in the morning. And this is the way I want to close the 365(+1) Days of NEX-7, then, by celebrating its likeness to an espresso, here represented by the Nespresso capsules.

As any habit/addiction, you all know that the project may end, but not the daily moments of inspiration and sharing. So, please, stay tuned on this blog, because already tomorrow the new project will be online.

Plus, with the last shot comes the fourth and last volume dedicated to the whole project. As for the other three volumes, this book comes both in its beautiful printed version (18×18 cm / 7×7 inches, soft cover, premium paper, lustre finish) and its free digital ebook/pdf version. Just download the one that fits you better (or both, if you can’t decide) and, please, share it with whoever you want and as much as you can. By getting the printed version, instead, you’ll be not only buying a beautiful coffee table art book, but also supporting my work with a little donation, for which I’ll be forever grateful.

SO LONG FELLAS, SEE YA IN THE NEXT PROJECT!!!

  1. Congratulations and thanks a lot for sharing your blog with us! As much as it has been a habit/addiction to you taking those absolutely fantastic and inspiring photos and writing your blog it has been an addiction for us waiting for and reading your next day blog!

  2. Nice one, Luca! I can rarely have just one espresso (they’re so small), so I try to have larger coffees. I guess the expense of a Nespresso would put a stop to that!

    Congratulations on a great 365 🙂

    I enjoyed your series, but now I am most curious about your future endeavors. Good luck!

  4. Thanks for a great year of photography, since I’m writing this late I already know what’s coming now but still I’ll miss the nex a bit, coupled together with you it produced some great shots! My best to you, your family and the rabbits 😉
