Milan, here I am. For what will most probably be the last of my urban landscapes in this project, there’s nothing better the most “metropolitan” and “Northern European looking” city in Italy. And, looking for major urban differences between Milan and Rome, the very first, most obvious, and highly symbolic is the presence here of a proper subway system: not the “two lines and a half” which leave more than half of the city center (and most of the rest of the city) un-connected that we have in the capital, but three proper lines plus the trains that cover the city quite capillary.
So, this is the entrance to the subway of Porta Garibaldi, just in front of the train station. We arrived here at dusk and the lights were just perfect. This is my travel shot and my last urban landscape, a wedding is waiting for me tomorrow, and then it will be time to farewell the project and welcome what comes next…

  1. SInce there is just couple of days left with 365(+1) project I wanted to *thank you* for these pictures and inspiration you’ve managed to transmit through your blog.

I also wanted to say that I think I finally managed to shot something that I feel (1) is very ‘luca-like’ and (2) I’m pretty happy with. See it here: http://www.pixelem.fi/10000/luca-like-2.jpg Actually pretty easy shot once the light was right. Only thing its missing from being perfect is a man somewhere there. In case you’re wondering what it is, is an icehole where people go to swim during winter, though I think I’ve managed to capture it in a rather eery way. Just wanted to show it to you, so you know that ideas and tips you expressed earlier to me continue live in my photography 🙂

    1. Hey Toni, I thank you for being such a nice “follower”, and I hope you’ll enjoy the next blog too.
Your shot looks great, you certainly got the idea of making the subject emerge from darkness. I would have maybe go even darker, just because there’s some snow that is white-burned and I would have liked to preserve all the details and textures there… A human presence (maybe someone emerging from the water?) would have made it a masterpiece 🙂
I’m so happy you’re having fun with night photography!
